What your budget buys
The consultation rate covers accepted evidence review, log analysis, timeline work and preliminary reporting. A written scope separates that work from acquisition, travel, testimony and accepted urgency charges, while invoices credit the retainer against approved fees.
When a retainer is required, it is credited toward approved fees, not added a second time. Its unused-balance terms remain part of the agreement. These four hours are an example, not a whole-case price or guaranteed investigation result; appearances, travel and accepted urgent work have separate rates.
